My friend Sacha called to tell me Sass Jordan is back on the road and will be playing Westerpop in August. I hope I’ll be able to catch that show!

Ourstage.com interviewed Serena Ryder. Read it here.

You’ve probably heard Gert and Sarah Bettens - aka K’s Choice - are currently working on a new album. Fans in Belgium rejoice: K’s Choice are headlining Belgian festival Dranouter on August 7. (I looked it up; it’s near the coast.)

The hugely popular singing contest Canadian Idol - the sister competition to American Idol - has been canceled for 2009 due to the struggling economy. The Star reports that CTV, which produces the series, claims Canadian Idol is merely taking “a rest” and will be back next year but whether or not that’s true, the second most-watched Canadian-produced show going under - even temporarily - due to tightened purse strings can’t bode well for less popular programs.

I admit I don’t watch Idols or similar shows on this side of the Atlantic - not in the Netherlands anyway. Real talent shown here is far and between, and the kind of audience the winners are trying to appeal… Well, I’m not part of it. However, imagine me in some hotelroom in Montréal, QC in 2005 watching Canadian Idol. I think my jaw dropped when it dawned on me that the blonde judge is actually singer Sass Jordan. OMG! I was a fan back in the 90s.
