A couple of weeks ago I blogged about my radio interview on KINK FM. Well, I finally found the podcast. You can listen to it here. And EurOut published another one of my columns - this one’s about PDA.

Talking about EurOut, the editor-in-chief reminded everybody that today, August 8th, is - apparently - International Orgasm Day. Uh-huh… The first song that popped (no pun intended) into my mind was “I touch myself” by The Divinyls. Don’t ask.

Movmnt Magazine, issue 9, has a nice interview with Serena Ryder:

Hee!

In the meantime a K’s Choice fan recorded two new songs the band played at Dranouter Festival in Belgium. Both are uptempo and sound upbeat. I can’t wait for 2010 and the release of their new record! If this isn’t right / Echo Mountain.

In the meantime thousands have gathered at the Tel Aviv rally for the victims of the shooting. Read about it here. How heartwarming is this:

And singer/songwriter Jill Sobule finally opens up on how she really feels about Katy Perry and her version of “I kissed a girl”. Maybe I am biased, but I’ve always liked and prefered Jill Sobule’s (original) take on kissing a girl.

Two American gay icons will be honored by President Barack Obama at a White House ceremony on Wednesday.

Assassinated politician Harvey Milk and tennis legend Billie Jean King are among 16 recipients of the 2009 Presidential Medal of Freedom.

America’s highest civilian honor, the Medal of Freedom is awarded to individuals who make “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”

In the meantime Terry Moore (of Strangers in Paradise, and ECHO, fame) blogged some specifics - and posted some pictures - on the Omnibus. A few more weeks, and then my copy will be delivered, too. Looks like Christmas comes early this year!

Six inches of SiP goodness… And from Terry Moore it’s only a small step to Paige Braddock. I’ve been reading Jane’s World for the longest time (I’m now waiting to get my hands on volume 9). For those unfamiliar with JW: it’s about the life (and loves) of Jane, who lives with her room mate Ethan (a straight guy). I think it’s hilarious, and I have to say that I can relate to some of the antics… Now, this cracked me up:

Despite the fact I’m able to stay awake mmost of the day now, I still don’t feel well, and I’ve decided to go see the doctor first thing tomorrow.

My friend Sacha called to tell me Sass Jordan is back on the road and will be playing Westerpop in August. I hope I’ll be able to catch that show!

Ourstage.com interviewed Serena Ryder. Read it here.

You’ve probably heard Gert and Sarah Bettens - aka K’s Choice - are currently working on a new album. Fans in Belgium rejoice: K’s Choice are headlining Belgian festival Dranouter on August 7. (I looked it up; it’s near the coast.)

Today was the day. It went by fairly quickly, until a little after 4PM. Then it suddenly hit me: the radio show producer told me he’d call me back between 4 and 5PM. It was after 4:30 when I got a call - by the host. It certainly helped he has a friendly, somewhat soothing voice, to help calm my nerves. That and I paid attention to my breathing.

The interview started after he asked me if I was ready for it (I replied I was). And off we went - no rehearsals. I was actually busy translating my answers into proper Dutch ones, as I caught my thoughts at freight train speed going on IN ENGLISH. I guess that also helped keeping my nerves in check; I was too busy to be nervous at all (I suck at multi-tasking). And suddenly it was over.

The interview got some editing (fortunately) and was aired shortly before 9 o’clock, a couple of hours later… And I got to rock out to “Too many happy faces” :D

Check out the Studio Brussel page *here* (the radio show is called “Volt”). I will look for the link to the podcast and post it later.

Edit: my friend Mafalda helped me find the link to the podcast (obrigado, hon)

Last Thursday I was listening to a radio show called “Volt” on Studio Brussel, when all of a sudden, shortly before 9 pm, I hear an interview with a guy named Michael. He and his wife have been PJ Harvey fans for the longest time… And it suddenly dawned on me: I KNOW WHO THAT IS!

I E-mailed him and he confirmed that it was, indeed, him. He also convinced me to submit one of mine, wearing my beloved K’s Choice t-shirt. After some hemming and hawing I gave in and sent the producers of Volt one of me standing on Brooklyn Bridge.

Frankly, I didn’t think they’d call me back, and I had forgotten about it. Until I got a call today. It was an unknown number but I recognized the international code for Belgium, so I thought: “Who is that?” as I answered the phone.
It turned to be a producer from the radio show, asking me if I was the person on the picture wearing a K’s Choice t-shirt (YES!) and whether I agreed to be interviewed (SURE!). Finally he asked me what song I wanted them to play for me (”Too many happy faces”).

We set a time and date; he’s going to call me back to do the interview - which probably be edited. It’ll be aired later that day.

If you’re curious: tune into Studio Brussel on Tuesday, February 17. You should hear the interview between 8 and 9 pm (CET).
